The first mining exhibition in Moscow was held in 1996 under the name MinTek as a section of the Russian Industrial Week. In 2005 the exhibition changed its name into MiningWorld Russia as a result of incorporation of some mining exhibitions organised by ITE Group Plc in Russia and Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and China under one MiningWorld brand. For the period of its existence the exhibition was held on exhibition sites of All-Russian exhibition centre, Olympiysky complex, WTC Congress Center and now IEC "Crocus Expo".
