PEG 2009 BRAZIL will be held in Recife and is the fourth international bi-annual meeting, after Brno-Czech Rep. 2003, Elba Island 2005 and Porto 2007, gathering around a hundred scientists working on “pegmatology” in several countries. The aim of the symposium is to discuss and exchange the latest scientific advances concerning the petrology of granitic pegmatites, their complex mineralogy and use as raw materials for industry. During the closing session of the International Symposium on Granitic Pegmatites: the state of the art – PEG 2007    in   Porto-Portugal, from May 6 to 12 2007, it was decided that another meeting on this subject should be held at Recife-Brazil, 2009, sponsored by the Federal University of Pernambuco. We accepted the challenge to organize this 4th International Bi-annual Meeting in

Recife and we are now pleased to welcome you on this website, with preliminary information about the program and possible fieldtrips, and a link to contact us. It would be very important for us to know if you intend to attend the technical sessions and conferences, and if you are interested in any of the two fieldtrips.
